Christmas 2011

We had most of Carleton's family in town (minus Christian and fam). With all the crazy schedules of people coming and going we didn't end up celebrating Christmas with either family on Christmas day. We did however have Tinley's blessing so we spent Christmas with both families:) That is for another post though. I didn't get all the cute pictures I'd envisioned since I was CRAZY sick. I had a cold, flu, and a sinus infection for three weeks. YUCK.

I love this photo. Vera was telling Tinley, "here's my cousin, Kaylee!!" I think she meant your cousin. She also kept calling Tinley a "he" and "him". Yeah, she's adorable.

Carleton and I took a few moments to ourselves and went on a drive to see these beautiful lights in a Greensboro neighborhood, it's INCREDIBLE. I felt like I was in the floating lights scene in "Tangled". This picture clearly does not do it justice.

3 months

DSC_2025w

At three months:
Weighs 12 lbs. (with diaper and fleece outfit on)
Blows bubbles all day
Continues to love lights and noise, particularly Carleton's singing
Drools more than she did at two months
Smiles when you talk to her
Giggles
Can't get her to stop smiling in the morning even if you tried! (but who would do that!)
Had her first cold- SO sad:(
Discovered she can breathe through her nose thanks to her cold
Generally sleeps 6-hr stretches at night, also courtesy of her cold messing up her sleep pattern
Went from sucking her entire fist (minus pinky) to just her pointer finger
Started biting (was NOT happy when she chomped down on her finger)
Started balding on the back of her head from constant rubbing her head back and forth:(
Rolls over (on Feb 29th, so it's closer to 4 months)
Grabs her hair and ears
Rubs her ears and when tired, her eyes
Kicks all the time, like she's running in place
Sits in the bumbo
HATES tummy time
becoming more independent

At two months:
Tinley loves watching TV, I think it's just the lights, at least I hope so:)
She smiles (mostly in the morning) and coos, and therefor drools
Weighs 10 lbs 12 oz. (50th percentile) and measures 23 inches (75th percentile)
Still has the cutest sneeze and hiccups a lot
really good at pooping while nursing
Started sleeping 8-10 hours
She hated her shots...so did I

Texas

Carleton's firm flew the Greensboro office (+significant others) to Houston, TX for the firm Christmas party. We weren't sure if I'd get to go b/c Tinley was only going to be a month old. We kept racking our brains for a solution when my MIL said she'd fly out there and babysit her. Whew, what a HUGE favor that was for us. We were nervous about traveling for a couple reasons 1. planes just circulate germs and 2. We didn't want to be THAT couple with the loud kid every person dreads flying with. Turned out to be a moot point, she laid on Carleton's lap the entire time just looking around. She didn't so much as hiccup and that's saying A LOT for her:)

It was really nice meeting more of the attorneys and partners at Carleton's firm. The food and company were both great.

firm party

We got up early (like 4am) and left for San Antonio to see Christian and family. It had been over a year since we saw him and the girls and even longer since we'd seen Jen. That was a nice treat. It was quite chilly and rainy while we were there, completely opposite of what i was expecting.

The second day we were there we went to the Alamo and River Walk which was super cool. It was freezing (and we ate outside) but so beautiful. The trees, the little shops and stores, ALL the lights just made for a truly memorable experience...even nursing Tinley on the boat ride. Talk about chilly!

We had to leave around 5 the next morning to make our flights. I went back to NC with Tinley by myself because Carleton had to go to MN for a meeting. That was difficult because I had a connection this time and they kept changing the gate to completely different terminals that each took 15-20 minutes to walk to. AND I took all the luggage home with me. She was again absolutely perfect on the way home, which is the exact opposite of the baby sitting directly to our left. I think I might still be partially deaf. Several people raved about how perfect she was:)

Way to go, baby on your first trip across the country! She's such the world traveler;)
